The Pudelpointer is a versatile hunting dog breed from Germany. It is a pointing breed that came from a cross between the German hunting poodle and the English Pointer.

We try to sell our puppies to select future owners, attempting to match a puppy’s temperament to the needs and capabilities of the new owner. Foothill Kennels is located about 50 miles north of Atlanta Ga. near Lake Lanier.

Aproximately 50% of our pudelpointer puppies are shipped to the new owners. We ship all over the world.

We are active members of the NAVHDA testing and training association. So far all of our dogs have scored maximum or near maximum scores in the NAVHDA field trial hunt tests.

Foothill Kennel breeding standards exceed any and all clubs or associations breeding standards. All of our adult dogs hips are tested, are are HD free. We will not breed nor own any dogs with what may be considered marginal hips.

Foothill Kennel is owned and run by Jim Kenny. For 25 years, he has bred and trained top of the line hunting dogs, and for the past 15 years he has worked solely with Pudelpointers. Jim lives in North Georgia near Lake Lanier, near his 2 daughters and 3 grandchildren.

Jim has had a passion for dogs and hunting throughout the world his entire life. Being able to breed, train, and hunt world class dogs is one of his greatest joys. After owning and breeding many different breeds of dogs over the years, Jim has fallen in love with and solely focused his attention on Pudelpointers because of their temperament, personality, trainability, natural skill, and intelligence. Foothill Kennel’s is the winner of NAVHDA Breeder’s Awards for both 2007 and 2013. It is his vision and goal to have the best and most prestigious Pudelpointers come from Foothill Kennel.

Is a pudelpointer hypoallergenic?

The Pudelpointer is a hypoallergenic breed and is a good choice for people who have allergies to pet dander. That being said, he is generally a very low maintenance breed. His coat is naturally clean and he does not have a dog smell that can be offensive to many.

Are Pudelpointers good family dogs?

Pudelpointers are highly trainable, good natured, and do well with kids, especially active kids who like to play outdoors. Indoors, trained Pudelpointers are well-behaved, with a medium to large size that requires adequate space in the house. They don’t require a lot in terms of their own space, just a dog bed or cushion for sleeping.
With their calm, friendly nature and ease of training, Pudelpointers are gun dogs that double as great family pets, with one caveat: you need to have plenty of open space and the high activity level the breed requires. For active, outdoorsy families with large yards, and especially families that enjoy hunting game birds.

One of the big advantages to having a Pudelpointer as a family dog is that they are very low-maintenance in terms of grooming. They can be tolerated by some allergy sufferers, and they leave very little dog hair, so are a good choice for families looking for a dog that won’t add substantially to the housework. Generally, Pudelpointers need little more than a weekly brushing and an occasional bath when needed.
